Engineering & Facilities Department

About

The Engineering and Facilities Department is responsible for ensuring that all building maintenance and operations needs are addressed to support facility safety, functionality and comfort. Through preventative maintenance and repair, the department aims to cost-effectively manage Town properties and all building systems.

The department performs routine facility condition assessments, engineering and building systems studies, and building system replacement projects.

The Town Engineer performs complex professional, technical, and administrative work related to the Town’s civil engineering, infrastructure planning, development review, design, and project management. They are responsible for performance guarantee management, project review, road and
project design, site inspection, managing peer review engineers, and oversight of the Town’s Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) program. They serve as a technical resource to Town staff in all related engineering matters and collaborate extensively with the Town Manager, Director of Community Development, Public Works Director, and other municipal departments, consultants, outside agencies, and various boards and committees.

The Facilities Coordinator provides complex administrative and project management work related to facilities maintenance. They oversee a help desk system to manage facilities maintenance requests, and are responsible for coordinating the maintenance, repair, and improvement of municipal buildings and their related systems by Town employees and outside contractors.
