Independence Day Holiday Closure, Trash Collection Schedule & Fireworks Information
The Gorham Municipal Center, Administrative Offices, Recreation Office, Public Works Office and Baxter Memorial Library will be closed on Friday, July 3rd in observance of Independence Day, and Baxter Memorial Library will be closed on Saturday, July 4th in observance of the holiday.
Trash Collection Schedule
There will be no changes to the trash collection schedule during the week of this holiday. As a reminder, if your collection day falls on one of the holidays below, your trash will be picked up the next day:
- Thanksgiving Day, last Thursday in November
- Christmas, December 25th
- New Years Day, January 1st
Fireworks Information
The Town of Gorham Consumer Fireworks Ordinance was made effective September 6, 2012 to regulate the use of consumer fireworks to ensure the safety of the residents and property owners of the Town of Gorham and of the general public. As folks look forward to a fun and festive Independence Day holiday, please remember that a permit is required for ALL consumer fireworks use, and the use of consumer fireworks is only allowed on the following days and times:
- July 3rd, beginning at 12pm (noon) and ending at 10pm;
- July 4th, beginning at 12pm (noon) and ending at 11pm;
- Please read the Town of Gorham Consumer Fireworks Ordinance HERE for additional dates and information.
To apply for a free fireworks permit, visit the State of Maine's Burn Permit System HERE. Please note that fireworks are only to be used with a permit. If the Burn Permit System website is not issuing burn permits, unfortunately that means NO fireworks should be used.
