About the Economic Development Division

The Economic Development Division’s focus is business attraction, expansion and retention by providing resources, support and funding. Working closely with the Planning and Code Enforcement Divisions, they shepherd the businesses through the jurisdictional process. The Division also participates in special development projects, including managing the Town's Revolving Loan Fund, grant applications, and regional planning efforts. The Revolving Loan Fund program provides competitive rates to Gorham businesses for loans up to $150,000 and terms up to 20 years. Businesses have used this program to boost inventory and expand their offerings, or to purchase property or new machinery.

Gorham Economic Development Corporation (GEDC):

Gorham's Economic Development team includes Gorham Economic Development Corporation (or GEDC), a nine-member volunteer board of directors that meets monthly. The GEDC is a nonprofit, quasi-governmental agency promoting business community engagement and economic development to create new attractions and jobs in the Town of Gorham. The GEDC is comprised of Gorham residents actively engaged in developing strategies and solutions to address the needs of businesses. By fostering strong working relationships with business leaders, town officials and others, the GEDC plays a crucial role in promoting economic development and serving as stewards to the business community.
